CINCINNATI, Ohio (June 20, 2023) — Today, at a grand opening of Medline’s new distribution center in West Jefferson, Ohio, Advantus Health Partners President, Dan Hurry spoke about the significance of Medline’s unique strategic relationship with Advantus, which will support improvement of quality patient care and operating performance of Advantus’s growing client base of more than 200 hospitals, 1,700 sites of care and 600+ clinics in 46 states.
The new strategic collaboration is a 10 year, $2.9 billion agreement to establish agility and scale, supply chain resiliency and enhanced clinical integration with the nurses and physicians who use Medline’s products.
“Building supply chain resilience is critical to improving patient outcomes and health care operations,” said Dan Hurry, president of Advantus Health Partners. “This partnership allows Advantus to reduce the financial pressures our clients are facing, while also providing best-in-class clinical and supply chain innovations that improve standardization and reliability.”
The West Jefferson facility is part of Medline’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen the nation’s health care supply chain. Medline has invested $2 billion since 2018 in domestic manufacturing, distribution, and IT, and added eight new distribution centers, totaling 9.7 million square feet. Medline also expanded manufacturing capabilities during the pandemic to help meet ongoing PPE time-to-market demands. West Jefferson is a $90 million state-of-the-art 1.2 million-square-foot LEED-certified distribution center.
“Medline is committed to making health care run better in Ohio and across the country,” said Jim Boyle, executive vice president for Medline. “Our strategic partnership with Advantus Health Partners fosters a relationship where expertise and collaboration converge, leading to optimal clinical and patient outcomes. The significance of this lies in its power to transform supply chain operations, deliver innovation, and ultimately shape a healthier future for all.”
This strategic partnership focuses on serving the entire continuum of care and includes highly integrated collaborations with Medline and Advantus’s physician-led clinical integration team that works to improve physician alignment, product implementation, clinical process design and integration.
“To succeed in an environment of diminishing resources and staffing challenges, our vision at Advantus is that supply chain needs to be a highly strategic enterprise that looks for new ways to reduce expenses and sustain savings, and Medline helps us do that,” said Hurry.
