Advantus plays key role in future of onshore manufacturing of PPE
Cincinnati, Ohio (April 4, 2023) — Advantus Health Partners, a health care solutions company focused on streamlined supply chain management and cost-savings efficiencies, today celebrated Emerge Manufacturing’s groundbreaking for a new onshore manufacturing plant of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health care workers, patients, first responders and other essential workers. The manufacturing plant is expected to open mid-2024. Advantus is one of Emerge’s initial clients.
The physician-led clinical transformation team at Advantus is collaborating with Emerge on the quality and design of the face masks, surgical masks, N95 masks and other PPE products that will be made at the manufacturing facility.
“Advantus is proud to invest in domestic production of PPE which allows for a more resilient supply chain solution, helps mitigate the economic pressures faced by hospitals and health systems, and it reduces our carbon footprint,” said Dan Hurry, president of Advantus Health Partners. “COVID-19 highlighted the risk of relying on off-shore manufacturing and unfortunately health systems paid a hefty price when sourcing options were limited.”
As a leader in the supply chain industry, Advantus will expand Emerge’s reach across their growing portfolio of health care clients. Advantus provides services to hospitals, outpatient clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and health systems across 40 states, with a mission to transform the digital and physical supply chain existing in health care.
Cynthia Booth, a well-recognized Cincinnati business leader and veteran entrepreneur, founded Emerge Manufacturing to help bring onshore PPE manufacturing to the United States, with a particular focus on the Roselawn and Bond Hill neighborhoods of Cincinnati, where the plant will be located. Under Booth’s leadership, the new manufacturing plant will provide approximately 100 jobs and economic stimulus to the local community.
