John leverages his experience to consult and augment partner and supplier strategy. With more than 25 years of experience as a health care operator, John is recognized for his strong track record of maximizing efficiencies and reducing costs while delivering high quality services and products.
Prior to joining Advantus Health Partners, John was vice president of supply chain and support services operations at Intermountain Healthcare, where he led the organization to reach a “Masters” designation in the annual Gartner Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25 list from 2017-2021. John also received the Gartner “Power of the Profession” award for diversity and talent in supply chain operations. Other notable results from John’s leadership have led to the largest YOY supply expense run rate reduction in the organization’s history, a reduction of $32.6M, as well as the development of a “supplier portal” into ERP for improved visibility to transactions and invoice processing. In addition, John led the development and launch of a Center for Value Based Surgery to improve oversight of surgical supply expense, adding a physician and nurse leader to the supply chain.
Throughout his career, John’s leadership has led to improvements in the performance of supply chain delivery services. He oversees strategic alliances, works to establish standards of excellence through process redesign, and develops system metrics to measure financial and operational performance.
He is a highly motivated and results-oriented leader is committed to ensuring that Advantus remains a leader in supply chain management. He is passionate about developing and mentoring teams and enjoys building relationships with clients that result in world-class interactions for clinical staff, physicians and business partners.
John holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in business administration from Virginia Tech and has served as a Sergeant in the Virginia Army National Guard. He participated in Advancing Health Care through Supply Chain Excellence (AHRMM) inaugural Healthcare Supply Chain Institute program.
