As the chief strategic sourcing officer for Advantus Health Partners, John leads the build of the core Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) which is a new, wholly provider owned GPO. In this role he is responsible for medical/surgical, cardiovascular, orthopedics, neurology, perioperative device contracting, as well as capital and purchased services sourcing and procurement. He also leads sourcing for a large 48 hospital regional health system covering over $1B in annual medical device supply cost, and over $1B in purchased services and capital.
Prior to joining Advantus, John was Chief Supply Chain Officer for OSF Healthcare where he provided leadership in strategic sourcing, procurement, contracting, clinical integration and supply chain management. During his tenure, he secured more than $82.5M in supply chain savings, exceeding supply cost metric targets annually.
John earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Webber International University in Babson Park, Florida. He has volunteer experience as a board member for Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach. John is currently serving on the AHRMM Membership Committee and was named as one of “Ten People To Watch” by Journal of Healthcare Contracting, in 2017.
