Advantus Health Partners Celebrates Emerge Manufacturing’s Grand Opening

Advantus collaborates with Emerge to support onshore manufacturing of PPE

CINCINNATI, Ohio (Sept. 3, 2024) — Advantus Health Partners, a health care solutions and end-to-end supply chain management company, announced its participation in Emerge Manufacturing’s ribbon cutting and grand opening of a new onshore manufacturing plant of “made in the USA for the world” Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health care workers, first responders and other essential workers. Bon Secours Mercy Health, the parent company of Advantus, is an investor in Emerge and Advantus is one of Emerge’s initial clients.

The ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration will take place Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 2250 E. Seymour Avenue, the former grounds of the historic Cincinnati Gardens. The ribbon cutting will take place outside of the building. Speakers, attendees and media will then move inside for the remainder of the program, followed by tours of the facility.

A physician-led clinical transformation team at Advantus has been collaborating with Emerge for the past two years on the quality and design of the face masks, surgical masks, N95 masks and other PPE products that will be made at the new manufacturing facility.

“We think domestic production of PPE supports a more resilient supply chain, and it reduces the economic pressures on our hospitals and health systems. Sourcing and manufacturing domestically also reduces our carbon footprint,” said Dan Hurry, president of Advantus Health Partners. “The pandemic exposed our over-reliance on offshore manufacturing. With Emerge up and running we have changed that scenario and risk exposure.”

As a leader in the supply chain industry, Advantus will expand Emerge’s reach across their growing portfolio of health care clients. Advantus provides services to hospitals, outpatient clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and health systems across 40 states, with a mission to transform the digital and physical supply chain existing in health care.

Cynthia Booth, president and CEO of Emerge is a well-recognized Cincinnati business leader and veteran entrepreneur. She founded Emerge Manufacturing to bring onshore PPE manufacturing to the United States, as well as jobs and economic stimulus to the Roselawn and Bond Hill neighborhoods of Cincinnati, where the plant is located. Under Booth’s leadership, Emerge provides approximately 100 jobs and economic stimulus to a community population of approximately 14,000 residents over the next few years, while also helping to address the country’s overdependence on offshore PPE resources for critical life-saving supplies and equipment.
